Modelling of Supercapacitors Based on Simplified Equivalent Circuit

The need for energy storage devices especially in renewable applications has increased the use of supercapacitors. Accordingly, several supercapacitor models have been proposed previous researches. Nevertheless, most them require an intensive test to obtain model parameters. These may not be suitable initial simulation study, where a simple based on datasheet is required evaluate system performance before building hardware prototype. A simplified electrical circuit (SC) voltage-current equation this paper address issue. This doesn’t accuracy. structural simplicity and decent modelling accuracy make equivalent very power electronic real-time management simulations. parameters can obtained from datasheets value with minimum requirement. experimental method provide described. Based method, built Matlab/Simulink, characteristics series resistance (ESR) measurement cycle life are compared datasheets. results verified that applied simulate behaviour short time storage. given charge discharge modules. results.
